According to the FBI ballistic standards, 4.5" of penetration is only superficial, and would be woefully inadequate for defensive purposes. They require 12"-18" of penetration to consider a defensive load adequate. I've heard arguments that as little as 8" may be enough, but 4.5" is clearly too anemic to rely on it to do any more than make an attacker angry.dihappy wrote: Im willing to bet that most attackers WOULD in fact be stopped if anything penetrated 4.5" into their chest.

Yeah, you might stop them if you hit them in the eyes. That's about the only place I'd be willing to count on.galvestonredneck wrote: KB, That depends on where the 4.5 inches penetration happens--LOL

Yes, thank you, that was exactly what I was trying to ask.Purplehood wrote:Not sure what the other guy meant as to "why specifically", but I don't think it was why you wanted a gun, but why you wanted that specific gun.

Re: Has anyone had experance with "The Judge"?
In that case, I'd suggest that The Judge™ is not the best choice. It's too big and bulky, and neither .45LC nor .410 are particularly widely used defensive calibers. If you're looking for a revolver, I'd suggest something in .357 Magnum...Maybe an S&W 686+, for instance. If you're just looking for high capacity, a full-sized Glock or S&W M&P might be more suitable.galvestonredneck wrote: Needless to say, the thought of a handgun that would offer some protection when there is more than one BG is right up there on my list. Useing a long gun (12 guage shotgun) would not be practical for my situation.

For curiosities sake, may I ask why, specifically?galvestonredneck wrote:Thoughts of the aftermath of a huricain has me wanting to buy a "Judge" 4510TKR revolver.\
