Well stated, TexasEyes !! Summary version is "Err on the side of caution" which I think is an excellent position for anyone carrying. Doesn't mean we have to agree or like it.
A whole lot of things in this world tic me off, and it seems like the list is getting longer the older I get. I sometimes wonder if the 20 years I spent in the military were worth it, considering some of the attitudes I see running around these days.
My latest tic-off was the article on the front page of today's Houston Chronicle, regarding some DPS Troopers citing drivers for having license plate frames which "obscure" part of the plate. According to the article, one guy wrote 300 tickets recently, and the law changes on Sept 1st.
Talk about a uniform and a little power...... but, I removed my frames, again "on the side of caution". I don't need a $98 ticket (and possible an assault charge.)

It is exactly like that.propellerhead wrote:If it's anything like DFW Airport, you can't get into the secure area without a boarding pass. You can get to the baggage claim area and the ticketing/check in counters. Those are cleared for CHL carry.
Sometimes, you can get a pass to the gate area if the traveler you are meeting or seeing off is elderly/very young AND in need of your assistance. However, it depends on the airline and the ticket agent you talk with. Last month, they allowed me or my wife (only one of us) to meet my elderly parent at the gate. However, on other occasions, when we had pre-requested a wheelchair, they won't issue a gate pass. Just depends, best I can tell. If you do get a pass, then you pass thru security and carrying could/would be a major issue.
If your daughter is old enough and does not need any assistance, the easy thing to do is meet her downstairs in baggage claim. You don't pass thru security to get there.
