Re: Frustration at 30.06 signage
LOL! My wife is an EMT and the law applies to her when she is actively engaged in her duties as an EMT. Such as carrying into a posted hospital with her patient. This doesn't mean she can carry anywhere at anytime when she is off the clock. This is my interpretation of the law. There was some discu...

Re: HB435 Volunteer Emergency Svces Carrying
I think someone posted on this forum there was a recent court ruling stating that "does not apply" is not an exception to the law, but rather a defense to prosecution.dhoobler wrote:Where is TPC does it say that a LTC is a defense to prosecution?

Re: HB435 Volunteer Emergency Svces Carrying
This is a great bill! Going to look into requirements for becoming a volunteer emergency service personnel so I can legally walk past 30.06 & 30.07 signs without repercussions! :tiphat: Being an emergency responder won't be good enough. The exemption will only kick in if actually responding to ...

Re: SSL
Chas, It is fairly important that the site uses SSL. If anyone sends their password and the site doesn't default to SSl those passwords can get intercepted in plain text. The industry is moving toward every site needing/requiring SSL. I ran WireShark just to see what was going on. Logged into Texas...

Rights for me but not for thee! HB 560 fading, HB 873 alive?
Like many of you, I was a little disappointed to learn that HB 560 (a.k.a. the holy grail ) was put on the back burner and left to die. But ironically enough, "rights for me but not for thee" seems to be alive and well with HB 873! Expanded right for the elitists and nothing for the mere c...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute
The way I read it, the new verbiage for 06 & 07 prohibits both licensed and unlicensed carry. The text within brackets [] will be struck. Going to reduce the size of the sign. SECTION 24. The heading to Section 30.06, Penal Code, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 30.06. TRESPASS BY PERSON [LI...

Re: Poor 51% signage
as per TABC, in https://www.tabc.texas.gov/laws/sign_requirements.asp The second sign, the 51% sign, is to be posted on the premises of establishments where the possession of any concealed weapon is illegal. These are establishments that are licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for on-premises cons...

Re: Notify LEO You're Armed?
There has to be reasonable suspicion of a crime AND they believe you are armed and dangerous. Speeding by itself wouldn't justify a pat down but there is nothing stopping the officer from doing so. Your only recourse would be to complain later of a violation of your rights. Of course, handing over ...

Re: Notify LEO You're Armed?
I used the 'Texas method' of presenting both licenses when stopped some years ago in New Mexico, which has no disclosure requirement. The State Police officer asked if it meant I was armed, and when I replied in the affirmative, he thanked me for letting him know, and expressed the sentiment that b...

I don't own anything that I'd be willing to take a life over. I always figured that I wasn't the one who decided his life was only worth a television, he made that decision when he decided to steal one. Seriously? And you actually possess a Texas License to Carry? Get some schoolin' my friend. Take...
