Re: Be Careful About Wearing A Shirt One Size Larger Than Normal
My answer was to start wearing fishing shirts much more often. I can wear the correct size but due to the general fit of those type shirts if left untucked I can easily conceal my full size XDm 4.5 OWB with no problem. If I stretch up to get something from a shelf or bend down in a certain way it so...

Re: RV Batteries in Parallel
I know we have some RVers on the forum, so I wanted to see if I could possibly glean some knowledge from y'all. I just traded in our 2011 23' TT for an 18' Off-Road TT, and I'm setting it up for boondock camping. I was able to keep my battery from the old RV, and it's a 8 month old Type 27 1000 CCA...

Re: RV Batteries in Parallel
Thanks to everyone for the info! I'm pretty much in that spot where I have two batteries, one new and one 6 months old, that I would hate to just get rid of. My goal would be to get as much life out of the two I have before they die, and then replace them with Odyssey batteries. Just thinking out l...

Re: Had to shoot a thieving....
Try some Speer, Gold Dot, JHP's in the future. You may get better penetration...or not...but Speer does produce a great JHP. When I was buying JHP's the first time I was wanting either gold dots or federal hst, unfortunately academy didn't have either. Of the options available the hornady was the b...

Re: Had to shoot a thieving....
And to my surprise a 175 grain hornady critical duty completely stopped inside a raccoon. Is it just me or does that sound like it might be too little penetration when translated to humans? Lucky gunner shows over 19" of penetration in gel goes to show gel ain't real life. That was mostly what...

Re: Had to shoot a thieving....
Hope there was a better backstop than blue sky. Tree tops are thick in that area, actually saw the 2 misses hit the limb it was on, but there were very few holes that a bullet could have slipped through clean and the land behind is part of the same private property that I hunt on. I was totally con...

Had to shoot a thieving....
Raccoon. Went to check my trail cam and 2 raccoons were under the feeder, they scampered up a tree and I decided to put a stop to the theft. All i had was my XDm 40, took a couple of misses to figure out the correct hold for the 35-40 yard range but managed to hit and kill one and knock the other ou...

Re: Minimum Caliber for Handgun Proficiency Exam
I was never intending to get that far out with my comment. I don't know anyone who carries a pistol ar as anything other than a truck gun. At the same time the gun I qualified with I never had any intention of carrying. Fast forward a few years and I actually do carry it some of the time. I still wo...

I mostly pocket carry my LCP, when I want more capacity I carry OWB in SOB holster at about 430.

Re: Gun safe thoughts/advice
Since we are sharing, my biggest challenge with a safe is figuring out how to mount one in a newer house with a post tension slab. I don't want to void my warranty or break a cable. An appropriate mounting solution is going to either look weird or get very expensive. Epoxy is an option but quite pe...

Re: Gun safe thoughts/advice
I have a 10 gun(no way will it hold 10 long arms) stack on that was a Christmas present a few years ago. It's adequate for anti theft, I also have a small keyes safe beside the bed for edc, at night it just lays on the nightstand in the open though. I also keep an old homemade gun rack hanging above...

Re: Finally, I am a new truck owner
Nice and awd for 40k isn't bad, my base xlt f150 4x4 with no extras except the 4x4 and a 3.5 ecoboost listed for 42500. Mine has almost no driver aids, cloth interior, barely a step up from a work truck.

Re: Us Poor Lefties
I'm not left handed, but my normal carry is in my back pocket so no go while driving. As stated above first option is to use the car itself to get out of the situation all together. I also keep a full size 40 in a pocket sewn to my seat cover on the front of the seat that is very easy to get to. Als...

Re: Minimum Caliber for Handgun Proficiency Exam
Not that I would expect it to happen often, but since there is no caliber restriction, could one use an AR pistol with a brace, and then since the atf has decided it's ok, shoulder it? I would allow it. But remember, you are not allowed to use optics, red dots, lasers, etc. Only open sights. Yeah I...
