You're talking about a shirt-tucker holster, but you sound very concerned about definable bulge. A good friend of mind makes a distinction between 'concealed carry' and 'covert carry'. I'd describe concealed carry as 'reasonable efforts not to allow direct vision of the weapon'. To me, 'covert carry...

This has been discussed in another thread, you might be able to find some useful info there. My two cents: Glock 27, LEO version. Using CCI ammo, I have no worries. Using the Remington Golden Bullets I get a lot of practice on malfunction drills. I choose to think of this situation as built-in 'ball...

Thanks very much for this thread, looking around SATX for something for my fiancee to carry. Visited Nagel's last month. The older gentleman who waited on us was helpful and courteous. They had Centennial Airweight to show us, only one Kahr, and no Browning P35 in stock. I can't recall whether I tho...

Recommend an affordable fixed blade?
Looking for a fixed-blade replacement for my former rotating EDCs: Mostly Benchmades (a MiniGriptilian, a Stryker, a 705 McHenry & Williams, and one of the really light and slim Mel Pardue designs--I think it was the 530 or the 3550) and a Gerber Junior Evo, just because it was dirt-cheap. I car...

Liberal CHLs
I like the idea of a "conversion" since I have a lot of liberal anti-gun friends (yeah, who'd have thought!). I'd like to convert a few of them, and I take my time with them and don't try to force anything. You could always wait until they meet their first serious Bad Guy. That's life-cha...

Advantage Arms kit is a nice cheap trigger-trainer
+1 on the conversion slide. Make sure you follow the manufacturer's recommendations on ammunition, though, or you'll be getting lots of practice clearing malfunctions. CCI runs better for me than the cheap Remington 'golden bullet' ammo. Lots of failures to extract and failures to feed with the latt...

Sidearmor: your mileage may vary. Next time Blade-Tech!
Hi NuBee, How's the Infidel working out for you? I have a lot to learn about gunleather. I've heard good things about Blade-Tech, and that's who I'll go with next: http://www.blade-tech.com/home.php My experience with Sidearmor ("SA") has not been as positive as the friends of SA on GlockT...

Handgun vs. Knife
Anyone who doesn't think a blade is threat sufficiently serious to justify using a handgun might reconsider after watching material like the old training video "Surviving Edged Weapons" or any of the excellent Shivworks materials.

Third time was the charm.
I think it took me three “conversion experiences before I became serious about getting a CHL and starting to carry. First a shooting outside my house, then an attempted strong-arm home-invasion, then a threat of imminent shooting. Background facts: I grew up in the Midwest, in a culture where e...

Other ranges in the San Antonio area?
GreenGuy, thanks very much for the post. I'm new to San Antonio, and I've only shot here at one range so far, A Place to Shoot. The people were nice enough, except if I recall correctly they had posted their shop as a no-carry area. I also remember having a more or less constant issue with the cable...

Texas honors Washington, Washington doesn't yet return
Thanks, hi-power! :-) And you're absolutely right, I misused the word "reciprocity". My best information is that Texas honors my Washington CPL not based on a reciprocity agreement, but on a unilateral proclamation by the Texas governor. Summary: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration...

Please recommend San Antonio-area CHL courses
Thank you Mr. Cotton and all for providing and contributing to this forum. (My apologies if I've misfiled this post. The subject seemed closest.) I would like to get a Texas CHL. I'm licensed in Washington state, and expect that Texas' reciprocity is effective, but I definitely want the legal instru...
