Re: Carry at Disney world

I have the same situation as the original poster. As far as I can tell from FL law, amusement parks are not specifically prohibited. However, I could not find out what the requirements are for a business in FL to prohibit CCW (like 30.06 in Texas). Can they just post any no guns sign?

Re: RIA 1911 Holster

I have a RIA 5" 1911 and am using a Don Hume OWB for a full size 1911 (I think it's labeled for a Colt gov't model). You should find plenty of choices that will work.

1st contact after having CHL

I was pulled over today for an expired inspection sticker in FW. I was sitting at the stoplight and the officer turned left toward me. I saw him look at my sticker and knew I was busted. We went through the stoplight before he lit me up and I carefully pulled over into a parking lot (I was in the le...

Re: Millennium Pro Question

Adding my :thumbs2: to the previous 2 comments. I carry my PT140 Millennium Pro nearly every day. After 1000+ rounds I've never had a single problem. I also like the SA/DA trigger. I will say, though, that you will want to make sure to hold one and fire it, if you can, before buying, just to make su...

Re: Holster for Taurus Millennium

If he's looking for something fairly inexpensive to start out with, I have found that the Don Hume holsters sized for the XD compact fit the Millenium nicely. I have one in both IWB and OWB. It's a good place to start to find the most comfortable way to carry.

Re: Gun Shows and CHL

Just to try my hand at a bit of legal reasoning . . . Keith B said he thought if you unload, put it back in the holster and conceal, you are technically breaking the 30.06. Here's my thought: At that point, I am not carrying under the authority of my CHL. I am lawfully transporting an unloaded firea...

Does that $112.00 include a charger, or do you have to purchase that separately?

Re: Moving to Arlington..

I might be interested in trying Winchester, esp. if I can shoot with my wife at a discount. Where is it?

15 myths about gun control-some interesting reading

This seems to be a pretty in-depth source, with some info I haven't seen elsewhere (such as the statement that the primary reason many criminals carry weapons is not to commit crimes, but to defend themselves from other criminals).

Re: Fort Worth Gun Show Posted?

I see that the discussion is winding down, but just as a pragmatic aside, I thought I'd mention what I've always done: I unload in the bathroom (or elevator) and slip my magazine into a pocket and my empty gun back in the concealed holster. When I approach the friendly officers at the table, I smile...

Re: ON TARGET IN WHISKEY FLATS 1187 & 377

:iagree: I learned to shoot there and have introduced 3 other people to shooting there. They are laid-back where it counts (helping customers) and serious where it counts (safety). Also, I like the fact that when you pay the rental fee for a gun, you can try as many different ones as you want for th...

Finally--A school that GETS IT

The seminary where I am a student and where I work in security has been pretty clear-eyed and proactive about thinking through all of the recent school shootings and the implications for security on our campus. So, the administration has done a bit of head scratching over the fairly obvious fact tha...

Yep. I carried and there were no signs and no security at the doors, just some FWPD officers standing in the corner.

Fort Worth Convention Center

I am getting dragged by my girls to see High School Musical on Ice tonight, and I figure I might need my weapon to put myself out of my misery :yawn (just kidding). Anyway, what are the odds that this will be posted? I'd hate to get all the way to the door and have to walk back to the car. At the sa...

Re: Sights on Taurus 1911

Thanks for the link! I have been looking for night sights for my Millenium Pro (I, too, hate the straight-eights) and this is the first place I have seen them.
