Re: Looking for a good 40cal ccw
If it were me I would focus more on the ability to place follow-up shots quickly and accurately and less on 'knockdown' ability. 40s&w tends to be more snappy than a 9mm making it more difficult to get follow-up shots in quick succession. 9mm vs 40 ballistics aren't so far apart that more time b...

Re: What is your concealed weapon?
Right now I'm flipping between two -
S&W Shield 9mm(7+1) / Sig Sauer P938 Rosewood(6+1).
I'm waiting on an INCOG to show up in my mailbox for the Shield - if it's as good as I'm hoping it will be my Sig will take a back seat for a while.

Re: Raineir 165gr 40S&W plated Charge Question
I reload the 165gr Rainier HP all the time and have probably loaded about 5k at this point. Just remember that they are dipped bullets - not plated - so you should use lower powder weights than you would normally. Don't crimp them - there's no need. Just set your die to crimp to the point where it s...

Re: Newb Reloading Questions
midsouthshooterssupply has hazmat free shipping going on right now as long as you get 5k primers (you can mix/match types and brands) and their prices are pretty good. I was able to pick up 5k CCI SPP for $150. For just plinking at the range I use Rainier bullets for 9mm and 40S&W. You can pick ...

Re: pistol powder bulk
I understand brief periods of low inventory for factory loads, but I'm beyond perplexed by the ongoing shortage of handgun powders. Anyone have any knowledge why it's so bad? The percentage of re-loaders is relatively low compared to the general shooting population and preppers even lower. Anyone h...

Re: Processing time
18 day from filing to the card being in my hand. I filed electronically and got fingerprinted about 4 days later. I scanned by CHL Class completion form and submitted it through the DPS "contact us" site (it has a section in the dropdown for submitting CHL documentation). Also, I'm not sur...

Re: Okay, don't kill me but I got mine in 20 days
Congratulations! I just got mine in the mail yesterday - another June Filing. It only took 18 days. I too had a slightly blemished record from an arrest over a decade ago. I made sure to put the case # in the description area so they could go straight to it rather than have to hunt it down. Hopefull...

18 Days? - I thought it would be months...
To my surprise my CHL license arrived in the mail today. I took the class back in November. Finally filed electronically June 27th. Fingerprints done on Monday June 30th. CHL License arrived today, Monday July 14th. Are they completely caught up or was I just extremely lucky? I was expecting at leas...
