The formal surrender right in Tokyo Bay was pretty spectacular. The might of the Pacific Fleet safely at anchor in Japanese home waters, documents signed on the deck of a battleship, with waves of combat aircraft flying overhead -- it was an awesome show of force and a scene we'll never see the like of again.

Used to drive by/to Atsugi NAS a bunch and would almost always think about MacArthur landing there for the first time before the official surrender ceremony.
