I was hung up on when I asked to speak to a supervisor.TVGuy wrote:You spoke to someone and they hung up on you? What exactly did you say to them?gsansing wrote:After being hung up on twice intentionally, I contacted my State Senator and Rep yesterday. Tomorrow will be Day 49 for me.
For both this go-around and the time I had a CHL before I encountered nothing but professionalism form anyone I ever spoke with at DPS. It's not the best process ever and they can't always give you an answer because of that, but they were nice at least.
App was on 5/2...jasday wrote:Nice! When did you do your app? At least they are giving some kind of update.
Received this email this morning.slr001 wrote:Well, I got an interesting phone call today from Austin.
I am at the 60+day mark. Have called a few times and always gotten a different story. Yesterday I was told my application was missing the paperwork. I know many here get the same thing and resend. But I challenged her and told her it was sent electronically and they absolutely do have it. She put me on hold and 20 seconds later miraculously rustled up my paperwork. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was hung up on.
Today, I contacted my State Representative and Senators offices via email. This was the 2nd email to both offices. I let them know this was my second attempt to seek help from their office. I gave a short description of my problem, and the run around. about an hour after sending, I get a call from Austin. It was Ms. Caballero, she, or her office is who sends out the confirmation email when you send in your documents. She left me a very nice voicemail, letting me know they had my app and all my paperwork. It was being actively worked on and would be finished in the next few days (outside of any issues) and definitely done by the end of the week. She left me here direct phone number (and no I won't give it out) and I called her back and thanked her for the update.
So, was this a result of asking to speak to a supervisor? Or a result of contacting my local representatives? I assume the latter.
We will see if I get my plastic sometime next week.
The FAQ at http://www.dps.texas.gov/RSD/CHL/faqs/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; states...CoolBreeze wrote:The law basically says they have 60 days from the time the designated rep receives your paperwork. DPS interprets this as the day the auditor receives your paperwork (not the day it arrives at the facility). Basically the day it is entered into the system. We like to believe it should start the day it arrives at their facility. They can't fudge the day it arrived at the facility because it is time and date stamped when you send it registered mail or by the email you get saying they received the documents. They however claim that until the auditor checks it and submits it they don't know if the documents are complete. They can fudge this number, in my opinion, claiming they haven't found it or gotten to it yet. It is most of the problem with why things seem so sporadic. Some auditors obviously work much faster than others.
I agree with you. That is EXACTLY the way it SHOULD work.infoman wrote:All I'm saying is that the law book states that DPS has 60 days to process a completed application. They go by the date ALL of your completed documents are physically received as the start date for this timeline. It's not based on the date you took the class, the date you paid fee online, nor the date you were fingerprinted. Let's say someone took class on 4/2/14, they them paid online 4/5/14, they then got printed on 4/7/14 & mailed their documents certified mail that same day.. Let's say DPS physically received & signed for their docs on 4/9/14. In this example the law book states DPS has 60 days to process application starting from 4/9/14 (not 4/5/14). & that's only if all the docs were filled out properly (no missing or incomplete documents).
Really?infoman wrote:They go by the date they physically receive your documents (backed up by law book), so I was correct, just sayin'.. It doesn't matter date you paid online nor fingerprints. You're at 51-53 days.
Just hit redial...gsansing wrote:How are you guys getting through? I must have called 4-5 times on Monday, 4-5 times on Tuesday, and three times today; and all I get is the pre-recorded message. When you push 1 for CHl, the system tell me there is a high call demand and says to try back later and then hangs up.
I have done that... via email... no response from them either.bryan1980 wrote:Now's the time to get your state rep. involved. The only way this process is going to improve is if we make enough noise.Pluto wrote:Well, maybe now that you've been told they found your paperwork you can get the ball rolling. I've tried to get through today, nothing.slr001 wrote:So I called today... My 60 day mark.
I was told that they were waiting on my paperwork, and asked if I had sent it in yet.
I told her that this was the first time I had heard that. And that it was sent 60 days ago. 10 seconds later she mysteriously had my paperwork. I was then told it needed to go to data entry.
When I told her that they had 60 days to issue or deny, she told me that the 60 days starts now because they just got the paperwork. I explained that it was all sent together and that the 60 days starts when the actually get it, not when they get around to pretending they just got it.
Asked for a supervisor and was hung up on. Was polite the entire time, just refused to be lied to.
59 for me... No updates. But since they are required to issue or deny in 60 days, I guess mine will be here tomorrow.Pluto wrote:DAY 50 NO UPDATES! Misleading post, huh?
Yep... App submitted online 5/2, all documents uploaded 5/8.rickie210 wrote:so i mailed everything on the 5th of May just wondering if anyone else has gone this long without anything not even an update?? also new to the forum.

Woohooooooo........
However, my husbands is still "under review" and we did everything at exactly the same time. Status updates showed up on the same date for each of us (with one small difference).
5-22-14 Application
5-22-14 Confirmation email from DPS that apps received
5-28-14 Fingerprints
5-28-14 Sub'd all documents electronically through DPS website
5-28-14 Confirmation email from DPS "all docs recv'd"
6-4-14 Status change/update "received" and "under review"
The only difference in the 'status' between the two of us was that my fingerprints showed "complete" almost right away, where my husbands showed (and still shows) "under review"....... but first thing this morning (6-20-14) my status shows * M A N U F A C T U R E P E N D I N G *
(Sorry for all of you who applied before me, really I am, I have no idea why mine went through so fast ....)
