Re: Question: Need a Reliable rifle.
Thank you I will probably go for a WASR 10/63 or an N-PAP, and see if i can get a stamped to lighten the load. In terms of price point sub 1500 is fine with me. When I was growing up my grandfather used to bring an old SKS with him when we went camping, and it was cheap rifle that worked even throug...

First off finally got my CHL ... only took DPS 4 months. Anyway I'm in the market to buy a reliable rifle for when I go camping/backpacking. Please someone feel free to call me an idiot if I am way off track on this but I'm thinking more like an AR, AK, SKS type gun so I have a good reliable self de...

Re: Need Help Check elegibility.
Thank you for all the responses. I did get to speak to Mr. Cotton via phone and it sounds like I should be ok to get my CHL.
I'm still open to anymore weigh in if anyone believes differently.

Re: Need Help Check elegibility.
After reading the agreement, The agreement does not state that the charges where to be dropped after 150 hours, but because that was a verbal agreement that they would be dropped as per request of the accuser the charges where then later dismissed as reflected on the county record previously posted....

Re: Need Help Check elegibility.
From a little looking around it looks like the max is 12 months. Im still checking to find an official source Edit: So It looks like the max for that charge is 1 year. So the real question is what does it mean to be "Truly Dismissed". The county record states dismissed (screenshot above), ...

Re: Need Help Check elegibility.
To the link above: the plea was Nolo Contendre to 18.2-57(A) but I did not serve confinement. Reading my plea agreement under the section "Sentence" it states "Deferred". To: Mr. Charles L. Cotton If you are still practicing I will be happy to visit with you to go over the detail...

Here is a snapshot of the county record. http://s29.postimg.org/gd6pwxwdz/Final_Disposition.jpg screen shots I guess I was under the impression I was under deferred adjudication until 150h then the charges where dismissed. here is a web link to the Virginia law: http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp5...

Re: Need Help Check elegibility.
Welcome to the forum. Is there somewhere I can get a firm yes/no before I drop 200-300 on the CHL? Only DPS can give you a firm yes/no and I never heard of them giving a firm yes without an application and fee. Ask ten people and get a dozen opinions. Here's one more. I think you have to wait until...

Re: Need Help Check elegibility.
There are no other issues that will effect my eligibility, this was an isolated incident. Don't even have a traffic violation past this mistake.

Re: Need Help Check elegibility.
I was thinking of just going into a local police station and asking with my court papers in-hand but I was not sure if they would help me.
