Congrats!gsansing wrote:Got phone call from Austin today, saying mine was in the mail today and it allow for 10-14 days for delivery. The lady the called me was very nice and cordial; also she was very eager to answer my questions.
She reported to me that the CHL program was going thought some re-vamping. The website is being upgraded and that they are hoping to streamline the process more.
Both my State Rep and Senator called me today told what they have been hearing from their constituents about the CHL office is unacceptable. They both told me they would be looking into the issue more once the State Legislature reconvenes in a few months.
For those of you who have been waiting longer longer than 60 or have called the DPS CHL office and hung up on or had rude operator; I highly suggest you contact your states reps. Both mine very extremely helpful.

Congrats and welcome to the forum!Texlapua wrote:Have hope and call your state rep if over 60 days from verified receipt by DPS. I had registered mail receipt of all information on May 10th. Repeated attempts by phone and email were unsuccessful. My status changed to no status update 5 days ago. I called my state rep and they contacted dps and told me that my license was being processed and would revive it within a week or so. This was July 9th. I received my license on July 12th. Rep told me that they were extremely back logged but I am convinced the questioning status from your elected officials move your approval up the que.

Don't be surprised if it takes 2. If there are any questions in your background (not saying there are) you will receive a letter in the (snail) mail in around a week asking for clarification.joppaknox wrote:well finally got ahold of a helpful gentleman. Received confirmation or resubmitted documents: June 30-late afternoon
I wrote to Rep. Branch well before 60 days as I was alarmed at the fact that folks dating back to February were still in the black hole but all sorts of folks who began in June were getting their licenses in record time. I did not ask for help on my own case. This indicated some sort of a process failure to me. I'm a theology professor (Greek and New Testament) now, but I used to be in management and did my undergrad in manufacturing engineering. I can recognize poor process flow and design rather easily.
Anyway, I logged in today and I now have the options to change residential address, change contact information, change mailing address, report lost license, report stolen license. It it holds true to what I've been seeing the last two weeks, it means it's been issued and either being printed or already on the way!

Re: May 2014
The law basically says they have 60 days from the time the designated rep receives your paperwork. DPS interprets this as the day the auditor receives your paperwork (not the day it arrives at the facility). Basically the day it is entered into the system. We like to believe it should start the day it arrives at their facility. They can't fudge the day it arrived at the facility because it is time and date stamped when you send it registered mail or by the email you get saying they received the documents. They however claim that until the auditor checks it and submits it they don't know if the documents are complete. They can fudge this number, in my opinion, claiming they haven't found it or gotten to it yet. It is most of the problem with why things seem so sporadic. Some auditors obviously work much faster than others.
