Re: How to report improper §30.06 signs
I just read elsewhere that as of two days ago, the 30.06 signs are supposedly back up at the Houston Zoo!

Re: How to report improper §30.06 signs
I'm wondering if for these short term events, whether they post the signs a day or more before the actual event start date (and I'm guessing that they don't wait until the morning of the event). And if they do, could a complaint be filed to the city on that date, perhaps giving the three days then to find that they hadn't removed it. I know that they could still simply remove it at the end of the three days but perhaps this would strengthen a complaint if it was still up when it was filed?

Wow: "Though only a handful of complaints have so far been sent to the attorney general’s office..." I wonder where those stats came from because just from the postings here it seems to exceed that.NotRPB wrote:Complaints start to trickle in over local governments’ ‘no guns’ signs

Excellent, as that apparently is what it will take to force the dishonest tactics and games to end (or at least they'll have to morph them in some other way).Charles L. Re: How to report improper §30.06 signs
Had read on another forum that they have done just that -- claimed that as an amusement park they are exempt. I think that they are possibly quite clueless about the whole 75 acre requirement (and all else in 46.035).ScottDLS wrote:Unlike the Dallas Zoo, the Fort Worth Zoo is not 75 acres or greater, so they fail the definition of an amusement park under 46.035. They don't care, they just don't want icky guns near their dangerous animals... Or the zoo animals either.
It is almost like they know that they are doing it wrong, they are counting on the gun carrying public to not know in their efforts to be the most law abiding group in Texas.
FYI, as is with the Dallas Zoo and being discussed in a separate thread, Fort Worth Zoo also holds an amusement park license.

Re: How to report improper §30.06 signs
Have they even stated what their basis is for claiming that being a child care center then makes them a GFZ? I don't see how claiming to be that makes them a school (assuming that's the angle they're trying to take).

I have been at this place for a long time. If you read my prior posts, you can see the full story.
I was passing by yesterday and didn't have time to type up and notarize an official complaint. I did drop off a copy of SB 273 and said I would return the next day to drop off an official complaint if the sign was not removed.
I return today after lunch, still there. I buzz the front door to let me so that I could talk to HR (Kieth Hardcastle...I guess he was promoted). This time, they wouldn't let me in the door saying that they only allow people to enter if they have an appointment. This is NOT A PLANT, just an office. I asked to make an appointment with anyone, including the janitor. She said I would have to wait for Mr. Hardcastle. This was at 1pm, I was told I would have to wait until 2:30 when I might have a chance to talk to him.
I sat right outside the door waiting. I waited an hour when I look back at the door, and the sign was gone.
No official complaint filed. Just a copy of SB 273 and stubbornness.

Re: How to report improper §30.06 signs
Thanks for putting all this together as it will certainly be useful!Charles L. Cotton wrote:I have created a new thread with links to four forms. One is a notice letter, another is an affidavit, one is a complaint letter to the AG and the fourth is actually a TFC form for me to track complaints. They can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=79315. That thread is locked to make it easy for people to find the form/links. Any questions or comments about the forms can be put in this thread.
Chas.
I would like to offer a suggestion - that you add an additional post there in your new thread to include those members who are notaries (and their locations) and willing to help the cause in getting documents notarized. As I myself am a notary I will (as someone else has already also done so) notarize those forms in The Woodlands for anyone here on this forum at no charge.
Disclaimer so that nobody gets confused by this - I am NOT in the notary "business" but rather I am a member here who just happens to be a notary.
