Seems a little too easy to be stolen. I'd hate to have my gun involved in a crime, regardless of liability.
It's all a compromise. Using the glove box makes for "easy on / easy off" convenience. Since I need to do this quite frequently, it is a major concern.

By contrast, in 40+ years of driving, my vehicle has been broken in to exactly once. They grabbed a camera bag off the front passenger seat after smashing the window. Just a quick "smash and grab". The gun, in the glove compartment, was untouched.

I'm not saying it's a great solution. It's just what I do.
