Re: The boss keeps a gun but I cant?!

There are certain things that should never be discussed at work.

Concealed carry is one of these things.

Keep your mouth shut.

Do what you have to do to survive.

Accept the fact that actions have consequences.

I have been employed by the same company (A Fortune 250 company) for almost 34 years. We have a "firearms enthusiast" clique that lots of people know about. Outside of work I have shot with certain individuals, fellow employees, whom I trust with my life. One was my shift supervisor when I started and the other was an operator in the same unit I started in, now a pipeline technician. We never have discussed carry at work.

A fellow middle manager in the office next door carries the same handgun I do, and we pretty much mirror each other's outlook on lots of topics. We are well aware of the rules.

When he has an issue with one of his reports he tells me and I tell him. We cut an operator loose recently. A knowing look in each others eyes said all that needed to be said. No words were exchanged. The HR manager actually warned us to be aware of our outside activities in the event this individual decided to respond to our cutting him loose. We both kind of snorked at the suggestion.

As a rule you can trust very few and that trust is earned.

Like I said, keep your private life and doings private.
