Sounds like you need to do what they said repeatedly...go to the property hearing. You have proof of purchase, show them your hotel receipt that that should show the chain of custody up to the point that you left it behind. Shouldn't take a super sleuth to piece that together. I can see they're point, they're just following strict rules as can be expected.
