Sir, did you see the posted sign at whole foods?
Yes. I noticed it wasn't compliant as it didn't have Spanish language.
Sir, do you speak spanish?
No.

Yea, I don't want to sit in front of a jury on that...

If guns are not allowed under condition A OR condition B, to me that means:
1) They're not allowed under condition A
2) They're not allowed under condition B

Who knows what the legal intent was.. And I understand that Charles is an attorney and I'm not. I just know that I'd have a hard time arguing about it.

On the first floor. No one enters with a badge or a search. I guess the whole thing is a "courthouse".

I was at: 419TH DISTRICT COURT, which is at Heman Marion Sweatt
Heman Marion Sweatt Travis County Courthouse @ 1000 Guadalupe Austin, Tx.

The court was on the 3rd floor.
There's a cafeteria downstairs.
It also contains the civil part of the district clerk (same floor - 3rd).
It's a 6-floor building...

Chas.
Chas, you ever test this at one of the civil court houses in Austin? They've got metal detectors. There are definitely courtrooms in the building, but there are also areas that exist simply for public record purposes.
I haven't been down there in a while, or I'd ask... I'm guessing I know what the answer is.

For me, it's indicative of a jurisdiction that probably knows better and doesn't care.. Or at least has a specific agenda.
I don't think LEOs in such jurisdiction face too much trouble if they make an "uneducated" arrest...

What legal recourse do we have to get the signs taken down?

Says its owned by the city.

That sign has been up since the Austin gun show. When the gun show went away, they just elevated the sign. I haven't seen the sign come down.
During the gun show, I politely asked (and recorded) CPPD about the sign - I asked them if the building was city owned (yes) and I told them that my really horrible CHL instructor had indicated that city owned buildings couldn't be posted like that. He waffled a bit, but told me that he wouldn't be making any "illegal" arrests on the issue, but he couldn't guarantee that someone else wouldn't. He also indicated that the sign was there due to prior troubles at guns shows regarding loaded handguns that were handled improperly.

I have not inquired with the city or city attorney's office on the issue... If you do, report back..

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

Austin gun shows in Cedar Park Texas are correctly posted on city owned buildings.
Querying the LEOs at that location, they indicated that they wouldn't arrest on the issue.
