Thank you again! Excellent advice. I never knew about the NRA insurance option. The wife and I will have to check into that.Charles L. My only caution is to make sure you know what you are getting and equally important, what you are not getting. Read the contract thoroughly. This is in regards to prior to any event occurring, when CHLers are just worried about liability, not after - Heavev forbid - assistance is actually needed.
I do recommend getting the NRA self-defense insurance. It is true insurance meaning you are provided defense counsel in civil matters. In criminal cases, the public policy of Texas (and other states) prohibits one from insuring their criminal acts, so the policy becomes a reimbursement policy. That means you have to pay for your own defense, but you can be reimbursed for your defense costs, if you win, are not indicted, etc.
I do not have a pre-paid legal plan, but if I were to decide to purchase one, I would also get the NRA self-defense insurance to cover (reimbursement basis) the costs not covered by pre-paid legal plans.
Oh, did I mention to make sure you understand what you are not getting in a pre-paid legal plan?
Chas.

Has anyone actually used this "insurance?" I'd be extremely leery of this service. This issue is not insurance, its criminal.
EDIT: I'd want to have the best law firm I could afford-aka I'd try to get our Chas vs. a 2nd year wet behind the ears associate. Do they list who they are affiliated with?
