Re: Firearm in vehicle at a Race track
Race track is where parimutuel wagering is going on, like a horse or dog track, NOT an auto race track like Texas Motor Speedway. You can carry in Texas Motor Speedway as long as there is not a professional sporting event like NASCAR going on. And yes, you can leave a firearm in your vehicle at the...

Re: Firearm in vehicle at a Race track
Also I never got clarification. Does "Race track" just mean a dog/horse track where betting is involved? Or does it even extend to an auto racing track where there is NOT a pro event going on at the time?

Re: Firearm in vehicle at a Race track
Are you planning on parking inside a building that isn't a "parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area"? I am instructing and driving at said race track. The car may briefly be in a "garage" spot if I have any mechanical issues which is technically inside a building but ...

Firearm in vehicle at a Race track
I know you cannot carry a handgun with a CHL at a racetrack per TX state law. However, can you keep a gun in your car (not on your person) if your car is inside an auto/car race track venue? Does the castle doctrine override the CHL rules about restricting carry at a race track?

Re: Carry at a client site (contractor)
Thanks for the post. I don't have explicit written permission to carry nor would I expect to get it if I asked however there is nothing in writing prohibiting me from carrying so I guess this is a bit of a grey area. I would not want to risk my employment but I'd pick that option rather than be murd...

Carry at a client site (contractor)
I am a consultant for a company based here in the DFW area. Upon joining the firm I signed a notice to agree that I would not bring explosives or firearms onto company property. The trouble is that I am rarely ever on company property as I work at client sites. What is everyone's take here about car...

Re: DPS Losing Documents?
My beef isn't with the time. I knew going in that it was going to take up to 2-3 months. I'm upset with the extremely poor communication and the fact they lost my attached electronic docs once and then lost a copy of my U.S. Passport when I physically mailed together with all my other items which th...

DPS Email Inquiry
I emailed the DPS regarding my CHL using their contact us web form. I got a generic form letter back and the email states that the address does not accept emails. I took a chance and emailed the lady that sent me the form letter. She actually replied back in about 5 minutes. So if you get a form let...

Re: DPS Losing Documents?
Fair enough but facts are facts. If any company in the United States operated a business/service in this manner they would be run out of business in a few months. The technology is inconsistent (uploaded docs magically go missing). The people handling the physical documents are losing documents. Sca...

Re: Finally got it all in electronically.
Curious to see if you'll get an email 3 weeks later saying they didn't get any attachments with your original email. That's what happened to me. I then mailed in the physical forms and they lost my proof of citizenship after telling me they had everything for 4 weeks.

DPS Losing Documents?
I'm not impressed with the whole DPS process to apply for this CHL to the point that I'm getting ready to just cancel my application. I was very thorough going through their checklist of items to send in. I scanned them all in and made sure they were .jpg and reasonable file sizes. I did the applica...

Re: Where to buy .22 LR?
Academy in Frisco (Preston) had 375 box rounds of Federal 22 for 16 and CCI (not mini mags) for 27 I believe at 8 AM. Federals went fast, still 10 or so boxes of CCI when I left at 8:15.

Re: have you bought an ar?
I snagged a Rock River about 3 weeks ago at the pinacle of crazy prices. Paid about $150 over pre panic crazy prices but didn't have to wait as it was hanging at the wall of my LGS and range. Pretty happy with my purchase.

I picked up my AR from bulletrap around that time. Me and a buddy each got a RRA.
