Times must have changed. I carried a M-16 or 9mm sidearm in the Air Force almost everyday for 4 years with one in the pipe on both. Granted this was over 23 years ago and in peacetime. It seems like in a hostal envirionment this would be even more important to be ready to fire if needed. Praying for all soldiers safety.Dirthawking wrote:This topic came up the other day while we were visiting family. My brother in law is home for a few days before deploying to Afghanistan ( US Army). He asked why we felt the need to carry one in the pipe as they are taught not to. Took me by surprise that our soldiers in a combat zone are being taught to not carry one at the ready!

Re: One in the pipe - do you do it?
One in the pipe here also since day one. Full size Glock 21 .45ACP as carry weapon. I'm not going to "scold" anyone for their personal decisions. To each his own. I have no reason to fib either.
