They know most people will never take it any further than a grip. It's a lot of trouble and expensive to hire an attorney. What limited action I had with the Secret Service on duty, and the friends I had always had the attitude of "we do want we want, and if someone doesn't like it the lawyers can sort it out later." They typically feel they have one job, and that is to protect the Prez. How they accomplish that is inconsequential.
