Even my preschooler knows that's just common courtesy here in Texas. We were at home the other day and I leaned forward in such a way that my shirt rode up over the grip and settled there (I was aware of it, but in my own house with just the kids so I didn't do anything about it). My 4-year-old son reached over and gently tugged my shirt back down, carefully not touching the gun, and went back to what he was doing without comment. Now if it were a windy day and someone's Hawaiian shirt looked like it had blown up over the pistol grip, I might (or might not) say "hey it looks like the wind blew your shirt up over your hardware, thought you might want to know".
