That could be the case in regard to the USFS. Do you have a regulation you can cite that points that out? It would be good to have that in writing so it's available to everyone. I'm certainly not calling you wrong, as I believe you may be right, but it would be good to have the law posted so we can be see it ourselves.

I may be wrong, but I believe that Mr. Smith of TPWD has this incorrect. I will check with the State Parks law enforcement program coordinator and see if I can get a word on this. Although TPWD leases some federal lands, state law NEVER trumps federal laws. It is illegal to carry on federal property, with the exception of the new laws on Federal parks. The exception is that the US Forest Service allows it during deer season while hunting. I am going to send an e-mail this evening and see what happens.
