Re: january apps

uaustin wrote:I mailed everything off certified mail return receipt requested on January 2, 2013. The return receipt was stamped as received on January 3, 2013 and I received the receipt back by the 5th of January. My status did not change online until January 23, 2013.

I got a bang on my status because the instructor did not fill out the hours from the proficiency training in the box. He marked it as passed and selected the SA category, but with the hours not dilled in DPS is sending me a letter. I am also under review for the photographs. I had gone to Walgreens and I told the lady that I did not think they would be accepted. She assured me that they would. "We do this all the time", she told me "Trust me".

I contacted my instructor and asked that he meet me to get this potion filled out. Luckily I made copies of everything I sent in so that I am not sitting here trying to guess what they are picking at. I have not actually gotten my letter from DPS in the mail, but I want to have everything ready to send off as soon as I do. I am going to include photos and a letter just in case so that the process does not get delayed further.

Due to my work schedule I hired an instructor to teach me 1 on 1 so that I could take longer breaks to return calls if needed or call it a day if I had to deal with a client's matter. This small oversight is not really a big deal in the scheme of things. I paid $300 for the private class. My hours were not reduced OF COURSE!!! however I did get to spend extra time with a very experienced instructor who like myself is an Eagle Scout. I think that I got my money's worth and then some! 98% on the written and 97.2% on the range... it was about my schedule.

3/7/13 - Manf Pending!
3/9/13 - Mailed (even though it was Sunday... guess this just means put in outgoing)
3/14/13 - PLASTIC!

I called DPS on 3/6/13 and inquired about the 60 day mark being passed. Because my Training form was not complete the 60 day mark started on 2/6/13. Complete applications only is what I was told. The clock only starts ticking once you get everything in and it is accepted. First day to carry was today. :thewave

Re: january apps

I just called on my status (you can see the progress in the beginning of this topic) and the lady who answered was very nice sounding.... glad I got her first thing in the morning though. ;-)

I was told it has not been 60 days yet... :nono: :rules:

But everything looks good on their end. :thumbs2:

I guess processing time just depends on a ton of factors.

These will be forwarded to a specialist for review and/or processing."

I just got my "forwarded to a specialist" email this morning. I attached all to email January 24th. I definitely see a "batch" thing going on here. :iagree:
Feb 6, same thing... I am starting to think email may not be any faster.

Re: january apps

It would seem that DPS has slowed down to a crawl. I am still waiting on mine to change.

Anybody else check their status after someone else gets the good news? I am sure that DPS tracks information about what computer (ip address) logs in to check using a persons credentials for security reasons... They probably laugh about the number of times some people check. "rlol"

I am still rather new to this process, however from what I have seen it depends on who is doing the check (out of your control), if anything comes up with your name (even if you share a name with someone with a record it could delay). Anywhere from 5 days - 2 1/2 weeks is what I have seen recently though.
