Acevedo and about 30 of his officers flew to DC on the city taxpayers dime to celebrate the inauguration of our greatest enemy to the constitution of the United States... Acevedo needs to move back to California where most of the state agrees with his liberal mentality and take back half of the Austin population with him.
And I'm betting that they wouldn't even have to use taxpayer dollars to get back to California....we would probably be able to raise plenty of money from donations to send them back....
I don't live in Austin, but I'll chip in $10. :biggrinjester:

At the present time, the government is constrained from the worst abuses because they KNOW it would lead to violent opposition...which is the way the Founding Fathers intended it to be.

You know, I really don't know why they'd bother. Even in spite of all the firearms currently in citizen's hands, the government perpetrates some pretty outrageous abuses of personal liberty with nary more than a whimper out of anybody.
And though there have indeed been many abuses of the rights of the general citizenry in this nation, they have not done any true mass arrests, as the Soviets did when they thought some folks might not like what they were doing. The Soviets could easily do that because the people there were unarmed. The more radical elements in our government know better than to pull something like that due the the violent backlash it would cause. Could they pull it off? Perhaps, but it would cause enormous destruction to do so, and they know that. As an illustrating example, in China, a woman can be FORCED to have an abortion "for the good of the state" and what can anyone do about it? Nothing. What would happen here if they tried that...?
