Re: C-TAC Broke- Anyone Else ?

Piney, IMO your holster is better off without the sweatshield.

I first tried one of Comp-Tac's OWB holsters and it did not fit my gun and it printed ridiculously, and I did not/do not like their standard belt clips. Later I tried their (IWB) CTAC holster; I really like the flexible belt attachment, but specifically ordered some slightly different belt clips that require threading the belt through the clips (no easy-off way of dumping the holster). This holster's sweatshield also chafed my thumb, so I used a Dremel to cut most of it away. Cutting off the sweatshield also better accommodates the specific type of grip acquisition I have been taught/learned.

In brief: in my experience, Comp-Tac has good customer service and good products, and offer a small degree of flexibility in design, but seems reluctant to pursue anything far removed from their own ideas.

I had a Sidearmor holster whose belt clip was poorly designed and cracked prematurely (within 3 months). I had to wait over a month before they finally sent a replacement belt clip. On top of that, the sweatshield attachment constantly chafed my thumb.

The best quality Kydex work I have seen anywhere is from a pastor in Montana who makes the "Ehud" A-IWB holsters for Gabe Suarez's organization. I have never seen any Kydex from anyone that was as well-finished or fit as well as this guy's; this was the first Kydex holster I bought whose sweatshield did not chafe my thumb. However, his products are more expensive than Comp-Tac's and he is further away, but other than that it was a pleasure to do business with him.

For me, Comp-Tac's products can get the job done---sometimes with a little help from my Dremel.
