Re: Happy birthday to me!

How do you carry the knife in your boot? Do you have something sewn in? I'd be curious to see pictures as I have been thinking about getting a boot knife as well.

Re: XDS 45 Ammo

I have a 1911, not an XDS, but I am very happy with the 230 grain Gold Dots. If I ever get the STI Shadow I have my sights on, I'll have to check out the short barrel Gold Dot ammo. I hadn't heard of that before.

Re: Sig P226 Lone Star Edition

Took her to the range yesterday! Put about 300 rounds through (combination of Remington UMC FMJ and JHP, WWB FMJ, and Speer Gold Dot) with no failure to feeds or any other type of malfunction. My wife stacked 5 in the 10-ring with her first 5 shots! Amazing gun! Very happy with my purchase. I can co...

Re: Sig P226 Lone Star Edition

It has arrived! The grips look a lot nicer in person than they do in the promo document! Cleaning it tonight, then it'll get it's first range trip on Sunday!

Pardon the cell phone pics.

Re: Sig P226 Lone Star Edition

Um, you're aware that the Lone Star Edition does not have an SRT, yes? You'll have to order an SRT kit from Midway USA (they're about $50: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/567973/sig-sauer-short-reset-trigger-kit-sig-sauer-p226" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). I was actual...

Re: Sig P226 Lone Star Edition

Yes, indeed! From the pictures, it appears Sig did a marvelous job on this one. Very curious to try out the SRT, as the P-series I've shot before had a standard trigger.

Re: best ammo?

I use WWB for practice ammo. I find it cleaner than Rem UMC. But honestly, you better be cleaning your gun after every range trip.

For HD, I use Gold Dot. Shoots great. I'll probably try the +p ammo my next go around.

Re: 1911 Magazine Question

Good to know the Tripp mags worked out for you! I may have to give them a shot, especially if I end up getting the STI Shadow I have my sights on.... I run WC 47D mags in my Sig 1911 Extreme, and they feed reliably. The one issue I had with them, was that the magazines would not feed when I racked t...
