Re: March applicants

Hello all,

Just a bit of an update. After giving up watching the DPS site for updates and having to send in the same paperwork multiple times, I walked out to my mailbox just now and found my CHL waiting for me. 97 days from mailbox to mailbox and it only took sending in my CHL-100 three times, my County Clerk disposition record twice and my District Clerk disposition record once. It would seem one hand wasn't talking to the other down in Austin. I would send in both the physical and electronic form of a document and receive confirmation of its arrival, then get a letter a week later telling me to send in the forms I just sent in. Meh.... It's all good now. :anamatedbanana

To the few March applicants left, keep your heads up. :txflag:

Re: March applicants

Just received a letter from the DPS stating that I need to submit a certified search record from BOTH the County Clerk and the District Clerk instead of just the Travis County Clerk like I had thought for disposition information from an arrest 17 years ago that I was never charged for. Looks like I'm taking a day off this week to head back down to Austin and chase paperwork again. I would hope that this wouldn't put my application at the beginning of that whole 60 day time frame again, but who knows. After this and the letter I got from them last month telling me that they didn't receive my CHL-100 after their own system said they did, I think I'm just gonna submit these last two docs and then forget about the whole thing until either I get my plastic or a denial letter.

To all of my fellow March applicants who got their plastic or are waiting for your mail carrier to get to you, congratulations, stay safe and I hope you never have to use them for what they are intended for. :cheers2:
To those who are still in Background Review or waiting for some kind of update, keep your heads up and best of luck to ya. :thumbs2:

Farewell, all :patriot:

39 Days in Background Review. 80 days total today. No replies to inquiries via email and eternal hold times. Yay!

Re: March applicants

So I just received a letter dated 05/02/2013 from the DPS that says they never received my CHL-100. However, on 05/03/2013, the website says that they did receive it. I'm kinda confused now. Just in case, I think I'll both certified mail and email the PDF copies I made. I also hope copies will be good enough since I sent in my original with my packet that USPS confirms the DPS received.

Speaking of the website, the line for "Fingerprints" now says "Under Review" where as it said "Complete" on the 3rd.

Two steps forward, one step back...

Re: March applicants

MamaK wrote:oh hun, you didn't have to do that. We digitally transmit your prints to NCIC which returns to DPS. On that paper, your TCN is your proof that you were fingerprinted - it does nothing for you other than gives you a receipt that your prints were done (and if you have to do a retake, that TCN will be placed at the top of a new form. If you look at your FAST form, at the very top theres a space for "old tcn".) Metaphorically you spammed them =( unintentionally, but thats probably why you won't get a response regarding your submission.

The FAST form is your receipt, it is not anything that needs to be sent in. I am so sorry for the confusion. While I probably wasn't your fingerprint technician, I am one and if you have any questions that I am able to answer, please ask me. I feel very bad that your technician didn't explain to you the purpose of the FAST form and the TCN. (whether you are a CHL applicant, teacher, md, nurse etc the form will always be just your receipt. Occasionally a few employers, do ask for a copy because they know that the TCN is proof you actually went to get fingerprinted. You won't get the TCN until you get fingerprinted.) I am so sorry. I hope in some way I have helped you.
Thank you very much for the information. The lady who took my fingerprints didn't say much at all. Just what fingers to give her and to try not to help her roll my fingers. I just figured she was being efficient and was trying to get me in and out as quickly as possible. It was my fault not to ask questions though.

SigP250 wrote:Just a curious question for our March applicants, did anyone of you submit your documents online/email? If so, did you get a email confirmation, besides the "Thanking for contact..." Thanks all! :patriot:
I scanned and submitted on-line the form the FAST folks gave me the day I was fingerprinted. No confirmation at all. Everything else besides the application was sent in as part of the packet.

Re: March applicants

So it looks like, for the most part, those who submitted all of their information up to the second full week in March are starting to see some activity. My fingerprints were the last bit I needed to send in and I did that on 03/22. I'm trying not to get my hopes up for seeing some kind of change next week. :waiting:

Re: March applicants

The DPS received my packet on 3/19. I'm pretty much trying to not think about it anymore until I get my plastic. It's hard, but I only allow myself to check the status on Monday evenings now.
