It gets confusing with some. For example, Springfield Armory is an American owned and operated company, but some of their guns are not 100% American. I think the XD line is from Europe (and the Croatia comment is what made me think of them - isn't that where the XD's are made?). The 1911 line is American, but I am not sure if they make all of their own frames or import some.

Of course, they also have the M1A, the world's best battle rifle (IMHO).

Some of the STI pistols are made in the Philippines by Armscor.
Well, to be technically correct, while all of the guns are assembled in the US, some of the frames are made in the Philippines.

But, if you really want to have fun buying the gun, STI will arrange tours so you can see them making it. Then you will know where the frame was made. I have been told they are also pretty good to work with on customizing. Some of the agents are negotiating with them to make the 75th anniversary TABC commemorative.
