It does not change anything. The event is not school sponsored, even if school groups attend.

There are some who feel that the clause about school sponsored events only applies to places the school owns and has the authority to control anyway. After much thought and debate, I have come to agree. I don't think the law could ever apply to make a place like the zoo off limits simply because a school group happened to be there on a field trip. There is no way the CHL would know, so it makes no sense to assume it applies. Therefore, it must only apply to places the school can control, like the fields around the school or the football stadium that is not on a campus. It can be argued it applies to anyone that is accompanying the school students on the trip, but even that is debatable.
