Jumping on the shooter and stopping them would be like jumping on a grenade. Jumping on your bunkmate doesn't do anything to stop the threat to anyone else.

Can you give me a few examples? I'm familiar with many MOH stories where they closed with and destroyed the enemy at great risk to themself. I don't know any where they were honored for jumping on the person next to them as a human shield. There may be some but I don't know any.
