Good topic. I leave the long guns locked in the safe. Have always thought pistol in hand I would be able to get to the safe. The safe location is not exactly "high ground" though. Might have to rethink that situation. I recently discovered another flaw in my defense system worth noting... I cannot read the dial without reading glasses. I now have a pair parked at the safe as well as a light, since the closet door closing turns the ceiling light off.
