I carry a Kahr K9 with 7+1+7 that I carry, always topped off.On the other hand, my home defense shotgun is a Mossberg 500 with an empty chamber, hammer dropped, and a full magazine of 00 Buckshot - also known as "cruiser ready." Not that I believe the magic sound of a 12 gauge being racked will scare off the bad guys, just that I practice and shoot skeet and trap in this manner, so I know the manual of arms in a pinch without much thought.
