My sister (CHL'er) had a tire blow out on the highway between D/FW and Houston and flipped her Explorer several times. She was not wearing her seatbelt and ended up in the back end of the truck with a broken back (can you tell I'm not a doctor?) and ribs. She was awake and alert and notified the responding LEO where the gun was and he cleared it and gave it to the paramedics to ride with her and her stuff to the hospital. After her boss, (another CHL'er of the female persuasion), showed up to check on her, the hospital staff asked her to take the gun home with her as my sister would be staying a while.

As far as I can tell no one got worked up about it and handled everything calmly as they should.
