My CHL course instructor(initials D.H.) taught my class in Feb. 2012 that one should not bother carrying a gun for protection if you put the safety on. His reasoning was you might not have time or remember to take it off safety in the heat of the moment. And of course he said to always keep a round in the chamber for the same reason. He said his gun I believe he said a 45 S&W had 5 safeties and would never accidentally discharge.

I strongly disagree with him and this guy that had the accident may have attended one of this instructors classes since he teaches in the DFW area..
