I agree with jtran987. While I don't tend to opine that the ranges are trying to make it more difficult or offend CHL holders, it is a safety (and general liability insurance) issue. I bet it is safe to say that at least every CHL holder has seen stupid things that other CHL'ers have done, or even a non-CHL holder. I'm sure I can spend an hour listing the stupid things or confused things people do when it comes to guns, including drawing the gun.

Legally, a properly posted 30.06 at a range requires you not to conceal carried and you can argue that with the range if you choose to carry when a properly posted 30.06 isn't present, but I would recommend you ask the range what their protocols are, just to make it safe and non-confrontational for everyone involved.

This is just my opinion, though, as I don't feel an improperly posted 30.06 requires me to do anything but carry concealed into the building I planned on walking into. You can't "lean" legalities when it is written in law, you can, however, really confuse people that don't know the law and believe they can carry concealed when they don't even know you have to have a license for it (been there).
