My first 1911 :D

Pro Carry II Stainless with Night Sights
Sweet! I think you'll really like it. And you'll be surprised at the accuracy from that short barrel.

(Psst. When the hammer's back, the safety should be on. ;-) )

That is one sharp setup! Great looking grips.

You need to work on the grouping a little :rolll
Yeah; HV has to be at around seven yards to put five rounds through the same hole. And out at 25 yards, you sometimes can't even cover his five-shot groups with a nickel. But he's still young. He has more time to practice.

Kinny, ooh...a Nighthawk. This is quite a 1911 collection you're putting together.

I showed the newest member of the family to Venus Pax yesterday at PSC, but since this thread has been too quiet recently and I know that Longtooth will appreciate seeing the new carry decision, here are some small snaps of the Kimber Ultra CDP II (3-inch bull barrel, Tritium night sights, 7-round mag):

Let us know how she shoots!

I have a dumb question that's off-topic, but won't take long. I've never owned or handled a bushingless 1911. What's the procedure to get the tension off the recoil spring to remove the slide stop?

And I think the Eclipse is one of the finest lookin' 1911s, too boot (I know, I know; we had a conversation elsewhere about pretty vs. plain guns, but if one looks like what it is--a slab of milled and polished stainless--I don't think lookin' good is a bad thing). And we all know that LT took good care of that one before you got it.

But for 1911s that have been around a block or two, here's my first Kimber, a Classic Target (series 1) I bought in '96. I bought it as an HD and range gun; didn't have a CHL. So the mileage is fairly low for its age, about 10 thousand rounds, and it was never a daily carry. The holster wear at the barrel-end of the slide is from practice. Cheapo Hogue grips but, darnit, I like 'em. Something about having those three fingers in the same place every time. Sacrilege, but I've even covered up the nifty 30 lpi front strap checkering on my new Kimber Super Match with a Pachmyr American Legend.

I posted photos of my Kimber Christmas present (to myself) under Longtooth's tree, but I'll keep them here for posterity. ;-)
