That was my point. The local Nebraska LEO assumed wrongly that Texas required handgun registration. Up there when you move from one county to another you have to register the pistol in the new county and show proof of the new registration to the LEO in the old county. She did not have a Nebraska CCW permit. She graduated from college down here and then decided to stay. The pistol was with her mother in Nebraska while she was in school here.First of all, TX does not register guns and there is no procedure for doing so.

One of the hangups might be that in Nebraska you have to register a handgun with the local Sheriff or PD. I got this info from someone that lived there. When she moved to Texas the local sheriff up there wanted proof she registered her pistol down here. In fact you have to get a permit inorder to purchase a handgun
A handgun purchase permit is required by Nebraska Revised Statutes § 69-2403 for purchases of handguns in Nebraska.
