I DID show my CHL to the AVIS clerk at O'hare week before last.
I keep the CHL under my DL but in this case it was still in my pocket from the TSA at DFW.
The AVIS clerk asked me for my DL and CC and I pulled them out from my wallet. But these were the CHL and the CC.
She looked at it, smiled at me, and asked me for my DL.
