Actually, Dell policy is no one is allowed to have firearms or weapons while on Dell property, to include parking lots.

This rule does apply to contractors, and it’s in the agreement the contract company signs with Dell when they are granted the contract…so the rules do apply to contractors.

Since a contractor doesn’t actually work for Dell, then yes, Dell can’t “fire� them. But they can refuse them entry to their property, and they can penalize the contract firm for “allowing� their employee to break the rules. So in other words, Dell doesn’t fire you, but they can get your boss to fire you, or if their ticked off enough, they can just fire the company.

And I don’t think Dell needs to tell you, since the agreement is with the contracting agency, so it would be their responsibility to tell you.

Bottom line is, just because you’re a contractor doesn’t mean Dell can’t get you terminated from employment for breaking their no firearms/weapons rules. They can cancel the contract, and you're out the Dell door anyway (welcome to At Will). Whether the contract house keeps you or not doesn't really mater to Dell, you're just not coming on Dell property again, and they will not pay the contract firm for your services.

By the way that rule includes firearms, knifes, sprays, clubs and anything that’s primary purpose is defense.

If you get caught, and fired due to pressure put on your employer by Dell, you don’t have much recourse other then trial, and that won’t worry Dell one bit…

If you carry/store a weapon while on Dell property, you best keep quiet about it. No sense in asking for problems ;-)
