Re: Now it's my time to wait...
I do not know if they are batch updates or not, however, I have seen the status change between Sunday night and Monday morning. Sometime between 10PM and 8:30AM. I have seen "intra" day updates as well. My guess is that "Batch" processing is probably overly sophisticated for this...

Yes, I'm assuming the homeonwer has done nothing wrong. That's how we do it in America... I'm not on the jury so I don't have to give him the presumption of innocence, even though he clearly is if we look at the Castle Doctrine alone. I'm just questioning why someone would "randomly" kick...

Re: In the Hands of DPS
I had filled everything out online and did fingerprints before I took the class on the 31st. The rest didn't actually go in the mail until either the 5th or 6th--today is the first day that it shows that it has been received. You mailed it on the 6th, today's the 13th... that's right about par, Jus...

Re: Background check
I am kind of with Skippr and kind of with Banjo at the same time. I think generally we should wait the alotted time before checking for status updates directly with CHL personnel. Their process is going to be designed to effectively and efficiently (for a Government, that is) to process the applicat...

Re: Just starting
My wait is almost over. It's been "mailed" so I'll probably have it in a week. I also agree with others that there is a lot of good information and interesting conversation.

Re: Finally mailed the package today..
Mine went by pretty quickly. DPS updated their site this morning/last night to indicate it had been mailed. So, all in all, it was in the mail about 30 days after I sent it to them (that includes a couple of State/Federal holidays).

Re: Accident At Reds Gun Range
I've heard the thing about suicides not generally being reported in the media because it has a tendency to encourage copycat suicides. Don't remember where I heard it from. :???: I've heard the same thing. It's also not really news, is it? I suppose it is because it's a semi-public place but if he ...

Re: SAPD: Homeowner guns down suspected burglar
Wonder what the homeowner was up to.... Common criminals don't generally break into homes with assault rifles. I find the post above kind of frightening. If, God forbid, someone broke into my house in the middle of the night and I had to shoot them the last thing I would need would be an arm-chair ...

Re: CHL Instructors class
Where does substantial compliance enter into this? It is my understanding that, under some circumstances, satisfying the intent of the law or contract is sufficient rather than the letter of the law. That's what I seem to remember them referencing in my instructor class. Again, my memory is not the...

Re: Finally mailed the package today..
The process has gone a lot quicker than I thought it would considering we're dealing with a relatively large bureaucracy. Assuming your record is clear, I think you'll be surprised by how quickly it moves along.

Re: Background check
I realize that they get a lot of apps. I can even see it taking a bit longer when something shows up in the BG even if it has no impact on approval. It generally means more paperwork and additional controls. When there's nothing there, not even a speeding ticket. Applicants who submitted theirs a w...
