Re: UPDATE: 1/10/13
A person visiting from out of state would have an out of state driver's license. In most cases, the DL and the CHL would match. During routine traffic stops, I've been asked if the address on my license is correct (it alwasy is as I've usually begun the paperwork to change the address before I've m...

HB383 by Burnam: Prohibiting Texas residents from carrying on an out-of-state license SB164 (Van de Putte): Providing option to have "Veteran" printed on CHL. Some thoughts I would like to interject into this discussion. According to the DPS website, once one moves to Texas, your previous...

HB383 by Burnam: Prohibiting Texas residents from carrying on an out-of-state license Boo. This is a bad bill all around. #1> Burnam is no conservative. #2> My prediction is this will cause a myriad of unintended consequences. My immediate concern is that determining domicile is an inherently fact-...

HB383 by Burnam: Prohibiting Texas residents from carrying on an out-of-state license Interesting [A] person's license to carry a concealed handgun issued by another state may not be recognized and is not valid in this state if the person has established a domicile in this state. So, apparently, re...

Re: Pulled over on 380 by Princeton PD
That's a good encounter. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but for future reference, I believe you're supposed to tell him verbally that you have a concealed handgun (rather than just give him the CHL). Since the conversation may be recorded by the audio equipment in the officer's vehicle, I always (...

Re: Reduce Off-Limits Areas for Texas CHL’s
Charles, under this proposal, would state court security mirror security at the capital, i.e., one line for CHL holders and a separate line for everyone else? Would CHL-holding attorneys actually be permitted to carry in state courts?

Finally got mine, too. I'm surprised it took me a few days longer. Happy carrying.

Re: It's here!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats! Since our statuses updated at the same time, I was really hoping to get mine Saturday (in Austin, no less!), but no luck. Hopefully today will be the day.

Re: Skipped "manufacturing" step?
Thanks! Note that it took me forever to get through the background check, though. I really wonder if my statutes were updated at the right times.

Skipped "manufacturing" step?
Yesterday, my status changed from "Background Check: Under Review" to "Manufacturing Pending." After looking at several of the posts on here, I figured that the next step would be "Manufacturing." But I woke up this morning to find that my status is "Mailed!" ...

Re: Manufacturing Pending
Me too! Are you in Austin, by any chance? I am, so hopefully the wait from "mailed" to "plastic in hand" won't take long. Hook 'em.

Re: Background Under Review!
That's exactly right. In addition, if you don't check often enough, your session will "time out" and you'll be forced to enter your information all over again -- oh no! I recommend hitting "F5" or "refresh" every 20 minutes or so just to make sure your session doesn't t...

Re: Background --> Reviewing
Ha! Yeah, I won't call. I know that I've been in "Under review" since at least Monday. That's when I started watching really closely. I may call if my status doesn't change by this time next week.

Re: Background --> Reviewing
That's interesting to hear. After thinking about it, it's entirely possible that mine also took time to go to "under review," but that I didn't notice it because the icon (yellow triangle) didn't change. I've been paying closer attention to the color of the icon than the text. I don't supp...
