Does this mean Chas has egg on his face?
But this is a good bill. Older students walking near campus after dark (the only ones who will have CHLs and guns anyway) will be able to CCW to protect themselves... IF the universities don't opt out, per the amendments.

Will somebody please state, in plain language, what "engrossment" means?

Interesting that they brought that up about nurses. Some years ago, I knew a girl who was a nursing student at UT. One night when she was walking home from her evening classes, she was grabbed, taken somewhere, and murdered.

Pretty strange. I mean, everybody KNOWS it won't pass before midnight, so this whole thing is a charade and waste of time that could be spent on other bills. Looks like after a point, they would just withdraw it or something.

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
So you're saying that if there are, say, 110 amendments, and at midnight they're only at amendment 37, SB11 dies right then and there....?Charles L. Chas.
They're going to run out the clock.

Arggghhhhh.... "they don't want children carrying weapons on campus..... if you want to see who's going to be carrying guns on campus, just go down to Spring Break."

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
Exactly. I'm shocked at how FEW people seem to realize this. Only people 21 and older can even possess a handgun or a CHL. That rules out 80% of college students. Some campuses have huge, outlying parking lots in very high-crime areas, so far away you have to take a city bus to get to them. I've seen them, I've parked in them when I took some of those evening graduate seminars. They're scary as hell. You could be attacked and beaten and scream at the top of your lungs, and nobody would even notice. Some of these students (and employees) want to carry concealed weapons for self protection, but can't do so because they can't carry the weapon into a building when they get to campus. That's ALL this bill is about. But they're squealing hysterically about drunken frat boys running around waving 1911's, students shooting professors who give them bad grades, etc. all of which is total fiction. What a waste of a good, badly needed bill.K5GU wrote:Most of these House Reps in opposition to HB11 don't realize that CHL holders already can legally carry concealed handguns onto the campus in their cars.

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
They're on Amendment 31. I'm retiring for the night.
I just hope 910 survives this mess, but jeez, it looks like all they'd have to do is load it up with 500 amendments and sink it. I can't believe that's allowed.
Tell me, if that does happen, will all fingers point at Huffines?

I was talking about SB11, not SB19. Can they deliberately load a bill up with silly, pointless amendments, just to sink it?txyaloo wrote:SB19 isn't going to be killed.
