Re: Texas gets away with highway robbery

Oh I agree about the registration tax as well. I also hate they make us pay for inspections. I understand why the inspections are there and to a degree it makes sense. But you just have to follow the dollar and the real reasons usually show up. The State is constantly looking for ways to raise more...

Re: Why people don't trust the media

Also saw another video from a reporter in South Carolina making his report as he stood in water mid-thigh deep that looked like it was that way as far as the camera was showing. No theatrics on his part but talking about the widespread devastation the homeowners were experiencing. Right at the end o...

Re: Why people don't trust the media

There was also one I saw a few months ago, and I think it was in Dallas. It showed a group of police and other first responders doing a fast water rescue of a women in a car stranded in high water on an access road, trying to maneuver a rescue boat up next to the car door so they could pull her out ...

Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident

This is getting comical. The innocent guy gets shot in his own apartment and they search his apartment lookingnfor contraband? To smear the name of a Dead man unbelievable. They really are trying to throw this under the rug per say. What does him having marijuana in his OWN apartment have to do wit...

Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident

Being tired from working a 14hr shift is no excuse. How many thousands of people work 14hr shifts everyday and don’t go to the wrong apartment and shoot somebody in their OWN apartment. Just wow. Not an excuse, and jury still out on what exactly happened here, but fatigue is not a trivial factor ei...

Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident

We empower LEO's with the ability to arrest and imprison our fellow citizens. This responsibility should come with a higher standard of acceptable behavior than we have for the citizenry as a whole. We don't yet know all the facts here. But I do know that this officer should be held to at least the...

Fine or Theft??

A few days ago, Cameron County officials announced they had reached a plea deal with a man that Sheriff's deputies arrested for DWI when he was found passed out in his car on a FM road on 3/26/18. He was charged with Class B misdemeanor DWI and taken to jail. The deputies then discovered $830,000.00...

Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco

A few things come to mind which are pure speculation. Maybe the D.A. did not carefully screen these cases prior to indictment. Maybe law enforcement "pressured" the D.A. to pursue the cases. There is definitely a story or stories here---hopefully it will come out eventually. Pretty much t...

Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco

The McLennan County Commissioners voted to put a spending limit on the DA's office for the remainder of Abel Reyna's term to prevent him from draining the account before he leaves office. They would have to approve any additional expenditures beyond those necessary to run the office. Reading between...

Re: Woman calls 911....Get shot

The DA stated that he would have been able to bring charges sooner, but many of the officers they asked to make statements refused to cooperate with them. He said in his 18 years as a prosecutor he had never encountered police officers who were not suspects that "refused to do their duty and co...

Re: Dallas PD and FD Pension Fund.....

They do not have the funds for the Police and Fireman who served the City, but they can build bridges and parks of the roads that are unnecessary, but I am not a very smart guy so maybe I just do t understand. The roads, bridges, parks, etc... are paid for by the taxpayers, with their tax dollars. ...

Re: Dallas PD and FD Pension Fund.....

It is my understanding, that the root of the problem is that the pension fund benefits projected and expected, were based on unrealistic and unachievable returns on the fund's investments and were not sustainable. They promised more than they could deliver. They were paying out more money than they ...

Re: Shake Down on the Bus

Lot's of things get seized that stretch the intentions of the law. For the last couple of years the Sheriff's department in Waco has been running prostitution "sting" operations regularly where they set up in motels with deputies placing ads on Craigslist and setting up appointments to mee...

Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco

The DA in question (Abel Reyna) was defeated in last nights primary. Now that it can't help him in the election, I expect he will sit on the other defendant's dismissals just out of spite, and make them wait for the new DA to take office and clean house.

Re: Good Summer Sausage?

The absolute best summer sausage I've ever had is from a small family run meat shop in the Waco area. It' called "Torres Meat House" and it's on the New Dallas Highway/928 S Lacy Drive ( it was actually the new road to Dallas from Waco BEFORE I35 was built, but it replaced the original &qu...
