I use this stuff - it works great! I like that fact that you can use it on anything from metal to plastic to leather to wood without having to worry about ruining the finish. Also, if you put a light film coat before your store your weapon, you don't have to worry about rust.

I know it was used by the Germans in the early 1900's for medical purposes such as minor wounds and sores in addition to usage as CLP.
