Leftists are few and far between on this board.

Given your penchant for leftist sloganeering, what do you hope to accomplish coming here?

Few accept your professed bona fides as a pro gun person.

What's your agenda coming here?

If you really care to learn more about shooting, guns and accessories, CHL questions, etc., you must appreciate those with these honest inquires are welcomed.

You however, seem to be a rather obvious contrivance.

Please, demonstrate I'm wrong.
Abraham,

my views on the women in the military and the 2nd amendment cause are mutually exclusive. One has nothing to do with the other. admittedly, they tend to usually break out along the same political lines for many folks, which to too bad.

My agenda for coming here is that I'm getting my CHL and stumbled across this site via the "waiting room." A Google search for "how long to get CHL" brought me here. So I joined.

I've been open and honest about my point of view, would you have it any other way? Should I be quiet and not contribute?

I don't think any of my posts have been contrived. I didn't initiate this discussion or contrive in any way to bring it up. There were several posts and counter posts that occurred before I gave an opinion.

I guess the phrase "free your mind" is leftist drivel of anti gunners... I will not use it again.

Regards,
:tiphat:

FWIW, I wasn't in infantry and I didn't want anything to do with infantry. when I got my orders and they said 3rd Infantry Division I was pretty bummed because I didn't know any better. Wound up in an artillery battalion. And I have no doubt that women can do that... cut the powder, pull the lanyard, etc, etc.
That may be, but can they hump a 204 lb of HE round a hundred yards from battery 1 to battery 4 during a fire for effect? Been there and it is no fun. Especially with a center battery running low because they are firing the ranging rounds and need to borrow from other guns while the ammo people are getting another load of ammo.
Sounds like an 8" round.
Not too many of the guys could do that either. :smash:
Becca Swanson could... :biggrinjester:

Can they do Special Forces type combat?

No!

Why?

They're not physically built for it.

That's not a slur - They're simply not as strong as men in a multitude of physical ways...

I'm sure there are a lot like her in the military. She looks quick and agile too.
Yup and I bet most men could not bench or squat half of what she does. Sure her kind of power is rare but not all women are "weaker than men" like many say.
VMI77 wrote:Very very few women can ruck 90 to 120 lbs of gear, or load the main gun on an Abrams at the required rate.
Piece of cake for Becca. 551lb bench press and 843lb squat.
Mojo pretty much said it already but what's your point? As I already pointed out, they're not going to just allow the 1 woman in 1,000 or 10,000 that meet the existing standard...they've been ordered to create "gender neutral" standards.....meaning, lower standards for women wherever required to include them in significant numbers. This is not only bad for the military it's an insult to the few women who could actually meet the standards.

And that still ignores the fact of pregnancy on readiness and the gross inequity that women can escape combat by getting pregnant and some man will have to step up to replace them.

Another thing that is being ignored is the impact on all women in order to satisfy the social justice warriors who couldn't care less about the military or the people in it. There is already a lawsuit in progress, the gist of which is, that if combat positions are open to women, there is no reason why only men have to register for the draft. So the end result of this may be women being drafted. Personally, I'm sick of all the feminist garbage and I have two sons, so I say about time....if women are the same as men, draft them....but my more rational side realizes that as a society drafting women is a bad thing. And the reason the liberals want women in combat has more to do with destroying marriage and family than it does anything to do with "equality."

The "this really exceptional woman" could do it line reminds me of a famous quote of Johnson's about women preaching:
"Sir, a woman's preaching is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all."
from Boswell's Life of Johnson
If physical standards are being lowered in the military, it was probably long before women were allowed in combat. I know plenty of kids who could barely make it through gym class in high school that made it the marines right after graduation. A few of these didn't look like they were in better shape physically when I saw them again.

There are exceptions to everything. The rules can't or shouldn't be made based on the exceptions. God designed men and women differently. It doesn't mean one is better than the other. It just means each are better suited for certain things.

Your comments come across as if you think since Becca could do it, all women should then be qualified to do it. That does not make sense.
Well that is not what I am thinking at all. I am simply stating that there are women who can do the job just as good or even better than men. I know not all women can do it, heck, not all men can do it.

I see. The overly progressive leaning media is filtering the Muslim outcry so as to make them all look tolerant or inclusive of this extremist activity. Is that what you'd have me believe?
You will believe what you want. Nothing I say so change your view. You have been brainwashed by the media for years and associate muslims with terrorists.

If you had extremists slaughtering their sons in the name of Christianity, I'm most certain there would be outcry from Christians declaring that not part of our religion and condemning the attacks and those who did it. I'm not hearing that from the Muslim community.
You hear what the media allows you to hear. I am sure Beiruty would be part of that outcry.
I'm most certain he would. However, one man is hardly an outcry in a world of 1.5 billion Muslims.
What good does an outcry do if everytime one of the beliefs followers commits a horrible act the whole group declares they are not a part of them. The priests and pastors who have practiced their beliefs for years and then harm children are surely still believers. "Everyone who follows our religion that does good is a part of us and everyone who follows our religion and does bad is not a part of us." To say they are no longer a part of your religion just because they do wrong is ridiculous. I could start the perfect religion with nothing but perfect people using that logic.

:thumbs2: For those of you uneasy about Islam, look up the most peaceful religions. People whos religion is Islam are not terrorists. Isis are terrorists who just so happen to be Islamic.

If you feel uneasy about a religious group because of a group of people doing bad things while claiming to be believers of that religion, you should feel uneasy about every belief as I doubt there is a religious group whos followers have yet to commit wicked acts.
