Re: U.S. Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl freed in Afghanistan

This story gets stranger and stranger. The U.S. government confirmed Wednesday that Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl was discharged early from the Coast Guard, after only 26 days in boot camp, two years before he tried to enlist in the Army. It actually makes sense. Just further illustrates that if things we...

Re: Active shooter at Ft. Hood

Two different Generals are touting that 15 minutes was a "swift" reaction to the shooter. I guess if you say something enough times it becomes truth. I'd like to know if that is 15 minutes response time is measuring how long it took officers to respond to the scene of the initial call or ...

Re: New way to treat wounds caused by a bullet!

I brought up tourniquets as this new product is targeted for military use. The tourniquet remains the best option for serious bleeding from the extremities on the battlefield. Everyone carries at least one and you can apply one to yourself with just one hand. Application of a tourniquet does not mea...

Re: New way to treat wounds caused by a bullet!

This seems like an attempt to improve upon Quickclot's Combat Gauze. It takes the same clotting agent that is present in Combat Gauze and puts it in a bunch of tiny sponges. I'd like to see how it compares to Combat Gauze/HemCon gauze. For GSWs to the extremities, a tourniquet is generally going to ...

We (all US citizens) have no one to blame but ourselves. We continue to elect and re-elect the same type of people to public office which results in these types of laws and policies.

Re: CHL and Military Bases

Now, toss into the mix the recent addition of firearms sales at the Randolph BX. :cheers2: Exactly. I was at the BX at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene last week and they have a large selection of handguns for sale. The prices were not all that great, most were at or above what my local gun range se...

Re: Church Volunteer Security Groups

I strongly suggest you not use that term in this context again. Volunteers wanting to help keep their fellow church members from harm, especially those in the children's wing, don't deserve to be insulted. Tex. Penal Code §9.33 allows everyone to use force, including deadly force, to protect 3rd pe...

Re: Church Volunteer Security Groups

I brought up greeters because they roles that you mentioned (giving directions, assisting those with mobility issues, etc.) can all be performed by volunteers who are not part of the "security team". Everything that has been mentioned relates more to hospitality roles than security functio...

Re: Church Volunteer Security Groups

HB2535 and SB1324 won't change current law for CHL's carrying in church, so people will still continue to do that. They will make it possible for volunteers to do additional things like watch the children's/infants' wing and other sensitive areas without fear of violating Chp. 1702. Chas. Are we ta...

Re: Church Volunteer Security Groups

What is the purpose of these security teams? Nothing other than proper 30.06 notification prevents a CHL holder from carrying in a church. Concealed means concealed. Carry your pistol to church and pray that you never have to use it. You don't need to form a security team for that. Or are these secu...

Re: CHL Shotgun question

Does the GFSZ act apply only to school property, or is it within 1000 feet of a school property? As in what if I'm driving past a school on the street. Would one be in violation? The GFZA applies to school property and all public property within 1000 feet of the school (Private property is exempt d...

Re: CHL Shotgun question

Anyone legal to own a long gun can. "It must be unloaded and in a locked container or in a locked gun rack. It is covered in the GFZA". Where in TEXAS Law did you find That Ber?? And what in the world is GHZA?o GFZA=Gun Free Zone Act GFZA is a federal law: The Gun Free School Zones Act of...
