I was diappointed to hear this morning that a Kendall County deputy sheriff told a friend of mine something similar last week. The deputy told my buddy if a gun is carried in the car by someone that does not have their CHL "the gun could not have a round in the chamber, couldn't be within arms reach of the driver and could not be visible from outside the vehicle. My response was, "well, he got one of the three correct". Unfortunately, my buddy took what the deputy told him as gospel because he is a LEO and should know the law. I advised him to read the law for himself and also check out this forum.wgoforth wrote:Recently, a local police Chief was interviewed on a local radio station. One of the questions asked was "Can someone carry a gun in their car?" He stated it had to be broken down, with ammo out of it. He was asked again if there wasn't a way to carry one loaded in the car and he said "Not without a CHL." Makes you wonder how many jusrisdictions are ignorant of (willfully or otherwise) of MPA.
