Re: Texas state!!

fickman wrote:Sadly, when you consider the way the news outlets in our state reported EVERYWHERE on the Campus Carry verbiage being amended to the other bill, and how virtually none of them reported that the bill failed, I'm worried that:
1) there could be a lot of people who assume it passed, and
2) trying to Google campus carry will now pull up all of the news reports of it almost passing (when it seemed sure to), and researching this topic accurately is now a little harder to do. . . it probably requires drilling a little farther down than a lot of people will do.

Your right! Nothing reports that it failed(the source of my error) so I assumed that I was ok to carry everywhere on campus. Posted on the the forum to be positive. I wouldn't have carried on if I wasn't. Best thing to do is to actually search for the bill and review it on the Tex leg site!

The original question did not ask "Why?"
Hahaha in fact it didn't. I can carry on campus. Just not in buildings..
Let me know how that works out for you.
worked out great.

I don't think anyone was trying to be sarcastic on this thread. You asked the question, 8 or 9 different people attempted to tell you campus carry wasn't allowed, and you're the one that told us we need to Google HB750, which we were trying to tell you didn't pass.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find the folks on here are fairly well informed when it comes to CHL matters, particularly on legislative issues since the forum owner, Charles, is so heavily involved with the TSRA and the Texas Legislature.

and before you interpret that literally!haha By four deep... I meant diff posts from 4 people who posted something relevent! " no" does not countlol.

After all, can't see how a misinformed chl holder getting busted for carrying on campus will help our cause of getting it passed next session. Try not to read too much into Internet text, tone is hard to convey online. Stick around, this forum has a ton of great info on Texas laws. :tiphat:
I found that info while surfing the web at school. It was on some random chl forum and on a few random news sites. And I agree, that wouldn't help the cause. I'll try and find and post it on the thread. Thanks all for the info.

I told one person to google it.. That was about four posts deep.. both Before nine people were involved and Before I had actually found out for myself that it wasn't passed. My mixup. I don't doubt that the majority of people in this forum are well informed.. I would hope that to be the case. I was only trying to make sure

You CANNOT carry into buildings. Buildings = Premises.
PC §46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits
an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weaponlisted in Section 46.05(a):

any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or
educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation
vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or
educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written
regulations or written authorization of the institution

You do know your posting info that is not up to date right.. The 82nd Texas legislature amEnded a couple of your posted items. Maybe you should google house bill 750.. Thanks...

PC §46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE
HOLDER. (a) A license holder commits an offense if the license
holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder's person
under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code,
and intentionally fails to conceal the handgun.
.
.
(2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional
sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless
the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used
in the event;

"Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The
term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk
or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.
