My organization recently installed this system, similar to what's described above:

You can just press buttons F9 and F11 on your keyboard and a panic alarm is activated. It can also be used to transmit messages about situations.


Lots of options out there. Of course, the panic alarm just starts the clock ticking in minutes when seconds count.
